LEGISLATIVE
Support our accountability partners’ priorities by submitting testimony, meeting with legislators, and attending rallies during the Maryland legislative session (January to April)
Perform similar activities in support of county level legislation during the remainder of the year
Cultivate relationships with partners, allied groups and coalitions, and prepare for the legislative session

Support our partners by amplifying their messages on social media and sending out targeted asks to generate support for their legislative and community actions
Send out the SURJ newsletter to keep people connected to our activities and partner asks

BALTIMORE CITY DISTRICT TEAMS
Meet with state and city legislators to support our partners legislative and policy priorities
Attend police accountability board meetings, council hearings, etc to highlight issues that matter to our partners by asking questions or simply showing community support for important issues
Join events led by our accountability partners in the city, such as getting petition signatures for BTEC or helping to run an all night resource fair with Out for Justice
Groups exist for all five city districts - 40, 41, 43A, 45, and 46

Mobilizes local support for partner priorities in the county, including legislation and more equitable county policies
Attend police accountability board meetings and advocate for a community-driven, transparent approach from these groups
Monitor local issues by attending county meetings and maintaining connections with accountability partners like CASA and other progressive county groups

COORDINATING COMMITTEE
Thoughtfully considers the role SURJ plays and the long term trajectory of the group
Helps make decisions about what groups to partner with and what actions to get involved with, coordinating goals among working groups and accountability partners
Members include working group reps and accountability partner contacts, as well as folks filling admin roles
Meetings open to all members active in any working group
