There are times to prioritize our external work - protests, rallies, teach-ins, including many coming up - and there are times for our internal work - talking to family and friends, learning and educating ourselves. One way to work on educating ourselves is by joining a Spring Learning Group! Feel free to contact the facilitators and bring your friends!

Dates: Sundays - March 12, April 2, May 7

White Women's Role in Perpetuating Racism
Time: 5:30 - 8:30 pm
Dates: Tuesdays - March 21, April 4, April 18, May 2, May 16
Contact: Beth Ashton bethash@gmail.com
More Information: The goal of this learning group is to create a space to explore the ways in which white women reinforce and perpetuate racism. Over the course of the five sessions, we will touch on topics such as: 1) the historical construction of white womanhood, 2) the intersection of internalized racial superiority and gender inferiority, 3) white women in the 'helping' professions, and 4) calling in white feminists to do racial justice work. There will be assigned readings for each session, as well as personal reflection. Sessions will be interactive and grounded in the reality of the lives of the participants. Since we are hoping to build a culture of trust and learning within our group, we ask that participants commit to all sessions. The group size will be limited and participation will be first come, first served.
